The BSG is pleased to announce a new grant for 2025 to support members with some of the costs of specialty training. This is open to all members who sat the European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025. The grant is worth £300 for each year claimed, and multiple awards are possible for those who sat the exam more than once, up to a maximum of three awards.

To be eligible to receive this grant, you will need to:

  • Provide evidence of having sat the ESEGH exam in 2022, 2023, 2024 or 2025 (exam outcome confirmation)
  • Have been a continuous BSG member from the period of sitting the first exam claimed until the point of claiming

Due to the increase in the number of candidates taking the exam, the BSG now receives a surplus from the examination and wishes to reinvest these funds in members undertaking the exam to help support the costs of training. The initial award commences in 2025 and the BSG will need to review this process annually as viability will depend on monies received from the exam. The BSG reserves the right to withdraw this grant at any time.

To make an application, please complete the form below. We can only accept one application per person. If you took the exam more than once within the eligible time period, you will be able to outline this within the application form. We will accept applications between 6th May and 6th July 2025. We aim to be in touch with applicants by early September 2025.

Please note:  you will need to be have been a member of the BSG at the point of taking the exam in the correct category,  and also at the point of taking the exam
